About The Guide
My name is Eric Halpin. I grew up in the Twin Cities of Minnesota dreaming about the day when I could get away from it all and go fishing every day!
I graduated high school in 2020 and moved to Lake of the Woods in the spring of 2021 where I started working as a dock hand for Hennum’s Oak Island Lodge (formerly Sportsman’s Oak Island Lodge). I got my Captains License in 2023, started Ricky’s Guide Service in 2024, and started taking guide trips full time in 2025.
Whether it’s your first time on Lake of the Woods, or you’ve been coming up for 30 years, I’d love the opportunity to help you create a memory you’ll never forget!
About The Boat
The “Iron Tub” is a 20-foot StarCraft Pro Elite 2000 with a 225-horsepower Yamaha Outboard. It’s an older boat so she has her quirks, but has been very reliable for me. It handles waves well, and has plenty of room for 2-4 people to comfortably fish.
